​What is the Healthiest Way to Eat?


Many scientific studies have looked at the health of people on different diets, or put people on different diets to see the health effects.

​Common findings include:

    ​The healthiest dietary patterns are based on whole plant foods. (i.e. vegetables, fruit, grains, legumes, nuts, seeds)

    ​Diets high in saturated fat and cholesterol (from animal products) increase the risk of cardiovascular diseases (such as heart attack and stroke) and other health problems.

    ​​Red meat increases the risk of bowel cancer.
  • check
    ​People who have a higher fibre diet tend to be slimmer and healthier.
  • check
    ​​People who consume more highly processed foods tend to have more health problems
  • check
    ​​Humans have no physiological need to consume animal products.

The largest ever population study on diet is on Seventh Day Adventists in California, with over 100,000 participants.

​This study has been going on for many years and findings have shown that: the LESS animal products people consume the LESS likely they are to experience obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure or high cholesterol. Furthermore their life expectancy is greater.  

​This is not surprising given the different attributes of foods derived from animals versus foods derived from plants.

In fact, there are now many studies that have shown that a healthy plant-based diet can actually reverse cardiovascular disease and diabetes.
